Bark Dust & Mulch Installation

Fresh bark is the cheapest thing that makes a yard look expensive.

Bark dust or mulch delivered and spread properly — beds edged first, depth even, kept off the trunks. It holds moisture, keeps weeds down, and pulls a whole property together in an afternoon.

What's included

Everything in this job, spelled out.

  • Delivery handled. You don't borrow a truck or pay a separate delivery fee to a yard.
  • Beds cleaned and edged first. Bark over weeds is a waste of bark. We clear before we spread.
  • Spread at an even depth. Deep enough to suppress weeds and hold moisture, not mounded.
  • Kept off trunks and stems. Piling bark against a trunk rots it. We don't do it.
  • Clean lines at every edge. Where the bed meets lawn, driveway or walkway.
  • Overspill cleaned up. Hard surfaces blown down before we leave.

The work

Mulch & Bark Installation, on real properties.

Phase 1 — the strip cleared back to soil

Phase 2 — weed fabric laid the full run

Phase 3 — finished bark, edge to edge

How it works

Three steps, no runaround.

1

Tell us the beds

A photo or a walkthrough. We figure the yardage — most people either guess low and run out, or buy double what they need.

2

Pick the material

Fir bark dust in fine, medium or nugget, or a darker mulch. We'll tell you what holds up best where you're putting it.

3

Delivered and spread

Usually one day. Beds get cleared and edged first, then the bark goes down.

“They did a great job cleaning up my property, trimming all the trees, bushes, and hedges in the front and back yards, and removing all the weeds. I'm looking forward to having them maintain my lawn and landscaping on a regular basis.”

Questions

What people ask before they book.

Bark dust or mulch — what's the difference?
Around here 'bark dust' usually means fir bark, which is what most Portland-area yards use and what most people picture. Mulch is a broader term and can be darker or composted. Both hold moisture and suppress weeds; it mostly comes down to the look you want.
How often should it be redone?
Most properties want a refresh about once a year. Bark breaks down, settles, and fades — a top-up brings the color back without starting over.
Does bark stop weeds completely?
It knocks them way down, it doesn't make them impossible. Spread deep enough over cleared beds, it does most of the work for you.
Can you do just delivery?
We'd rather do both, because a pile of bark in a driveway is a project most people regret starting. Ask us and we'll talk it through.
